Why We Need School-Based Therapists

Mental health is a growing need for young people in our community. In 2022, nearly 1 in 5 children and young people ages 3-17 in the United States were estimated to have a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral disorder, according to an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality report. Signs of a young person who is struggling include changes in school performance and attendance, challenges in peer and family relationships, and difficulty performing daily activities.

School counselors provide students with better access to care by removing transportation barriers and reducing the amount of class time missed for therapy appointments. We also create opportunities for early intervention and promote mental health and wellness in the school environment. Mentally healthy students form healthy communities where everyone has a chance to succeed.

We provide comprehensive care across the entire spectrum of mental health needs. We partner with school professionals to build awareness and proactively screen and assess students based on their needs.
